So I'm playing through Far Cry 6! Been a fan of the franchise for a while, even though I don't have FC5 or New Dawn, and because of that I was surprised by the leveling system and how you progressed in the story. You don't gain XP from killing anymore, its all about completing missions, taking enemy territory and vandalism if you want to level up. And through leveling up you can craft different mods for your weapons and Supremo (backpack with an ability and a long cool down).

Weapon modding was always an awesome game mechanic idea but in this game you need special resources that can only be found in supply drops and certain crates if you're going to make anything for your arsenal. Speaking of which, the amount of weapons in the game is astounding. Besides the normal firearms, unique weapons are much more common than in the last installations and the introduction of Resolver weaponry is a great nod to how Cuban citizens made due with what they had during the US embargo. It feels almost like a sandbox with everything you can play around with.

As far as the story goes, you're an orphan in Yara named Dani Rojas. During a draft enforced by El Presidente Anton Castillo, you and your friend Lita escape from the city and hitch a ride on a boat heading to Miami beach only to be sank by Anton's forces. As the only survivor you search for a rebel faction called Libertad to get a boat out of Yara for good, but you'll soon find out that once you're a guerrilla, you're always a guerrilla.

The characters like in many of the Far Cry's are eccentric, colorful, and very well portayed by their voice actors. You get to learn and love the characters to a certain extent through cutscenes and general dialogue. In particular my favorite has to be Philly Montero, a genius mechanic offset by his childish charisma who in the first minute of meeting him almost blows you up. In a mission you have to find and bring his sister to the farmstead as part of gaining the family's trust, and once you come back the two start talking to eachother joking around like they were really siblings. Godda love the relationship dynamic some of these characters have! :)

blah blah 4k resolution blah blah blah dynamic lighting blah blah why do people care so much about graphics so clear you can see piss particles blah blah blah

As its still a new game I have ran into some issues that don't really break the game but its become very restricting. One such problem is how I can't use certain weapon types at all; Thats how I wasted materials on a light machine gun I thought would help destroy helicopters. Another has to do with the vehicles, it appears that they barely accelerate when in foward or reverse, and at one point I couldn't fire the mounted guns on a tank. Definitely a turn off, guys..

Should you buy? Wait a few months and follow up on it.
